Ukrainian-born Zenoby Lawryshyn may have written his Woodwind Quintet during his time as a student at the University of Toronto, but don’t be fooled; this work is not for the faint of heart. Lawryshyn expertly weaves folkloric elements into twelve-tone structures in this dissonant, emotional, and at times quirky piece.
The work is comprised of 9 movements, inviting the performers to carefully explore and unravel the structures within.
